Blue Buddha Boutique
Est. 2003

Founded in 2003 by self-taught artist Rebeca Mojica, Blue Buddha grew to be one of the largest chainmaille suppliers in the world, attracting award-winning designers, instructors and authors to its team.

The company was originally operated out of Rebeca's spare bedroom as a one-woman business serving the Chicago market. Within a few years, Blue Buddha had customers in all 50 states and more than 40 countries. They prided themselves on high-quality jump rings, original designs and the best pattern tutorials in the chainmaille industry.

They made history in 2007 by moving out of Rebeca's home into to a storefront location and offering classes in the first chainmaille-only brick-and-mortar store in the world. In January 2013, they moved to a much larger space in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood, selling top-quality supplies as well as finished jewelry and other local crafts.

In 2016, facing declining sales and increasing issues with manufacturing, the company decided to close its retail store and website.

However, Rebeca couldn't stay away from her passion, and by the end of 2016 had added dozens of tutorials and a few kits to the Blue Buddha Etsy shop.  She also relaunched RebecaMojica.com to sell her finished jewelry designs.

The  B3 shop on Etsy continues to grow and offers a variety of kits, jump rings, tools and findings.
