Coiled Butterfly
As seen in the Fall 2012 issue of "Wirework" magazine, this original weave, created by Rebeca Mojica, is also known as Infinite Wings on the Maille Artisans website.
Wrap your wrist in colorful butterflies! This project combines brilliantly shiny base metal rings with bright enameled copper colors to create a light and airy weave. A variation of the gridlock weave, Coiled Butterfly is named for the symmetrical wing-like shapes that are created naturally by the weave and emphasized in this project through ring size and color.
Prerequisite: Proficiency in at least 3 chainmaille weaves. Knowledge of European 4-in-1 (Mesh) extremely helpful.
You can also create a Large Coiled Butterfly variation in base metal. Visit our blog for rings sizes and counts for Large Coiled Butterfly.
