Ever wanted to invent your own chainmaille weave? This class can help you reach that goal. You'l learn about the different families of weaves, and explore some common techniques to create variations that build upon previous knowledge. Rebeca will show some of the weaves she's invented, and will (attempt to) explain the creative process that led her to discover the patterns. Then, it's your turn to play! You'll have access to every size jump ring available in base metal, and, with guidance from Rebeca, you'll begin linking rings in new ways. There are no limits to what you can discover in this class!
During class you will use aluminum and anodized aluminum rings OR jewelry brass, copper, bronze and enameled copper rings. Your material fee will be based on the number of rings you've used, calculated by weight: $8/oz for ALUM/AA and $4/oz for JBRS/COPP/EC . You cannot mix and match between the two different weight classes in a single piece, but you can create multiple patches and use different metals for each patch. If you would like to use stainless steel or sterling silver rings, please let us know at least one week prior to class and we will quote a price for you. (In previous classes, most students wound up spending between $1.50 and $8 on materials.)
