Get your creative juices flowing while learning basic chain maille and wirework skills in this introductory class. You'll use jump rings and a variety of findings to create three very different earring styles. "Shaggy Scales" uses colorful "scale" components and anodized aluminum jump rings for a dramatic and surprisingly lightweight pair of earrings. In "Niobium Crystals," you'll learn a basic wire-wrap technique to link a crystal bead to sterling and niobium jump rings, creating an elegant design. Finish the class with the sterling "Japanese Bull's-Eye," a now-classic chain maille pattern created by the instructor. This is actually Byzantine weave, but even better ... it's three-dimensional! Various colors and mixed metals can be incorporated into this design to really impress them all. This class gets up close and personal with the amazing anodized niobium metal, which colors your piece. After learning how to create these waffle-like blocks, students will also discover how to adapt this form into diamond-shaped earrings to match.
