RegalMeshFor September, we invited our B3 team members to use their ample creativity to design an original spin on a the classic Europen 4-in-1 (mesh) weave.  What resulted was the epic choker designed by one of our customer care specialists, Omni Mee.  We love the look of this piece in aluminum, so we’re keeping it simple and asking you to choose an accent color for one row of the piece.  Click the button below to choose your favorite!

Featured Weave for August: European 4-in-1 / Mesh

FEAEURO41_MESH_AUG13WEAVETURED WEAVE FOR AUGUST – European 4-in-1 aka Mesh

For August, we’re featuring European 4-in-1 / Mesh. This is an oldie but goodie! It’s a classic chainmaille weave originally used in medieval armor, but like so many weaves we love, it can be used to create a variety of modern jewelry pieces.

To download instructions for this weave, click here. Want to see which B3 sizes work well for this weave? Visit our base metal stats & uses page and our sterling silver stats & uses page.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Make a project which primarily uses the featured weave or a variation of the featured weave. The project can use any and all B3 supplies and can use other weaves, but the featured weave should be the star. Please see the complete rules and details below for more information about qualifications.

Take a picture of your project and submit it using our official Featured Weave Contest form (link below.) You may post the piece online somewhere and provide us with a link, or upload it directly in the form. You will be asked to provide your name and an email address we can use to contact you in case anything goes wrong with your submission—or if you are the winner of the contest!

Complete contest rules and details: Submissions are limited to 2 per person and must use the featured weave of the month as determined by Blue Buddha Boutique. The project is not required to be made from Blue Buddha Boutique rings, however any winning projects that use primarily rings from another supplier or rings made by the artist will not be eligible for posting on our blog or use in our ads to prevent false advertising. Finalists are chosen by Blue Buddha Boutique and voted upon anonymously by the public to determine a winner. Be Part of the Blue Buddha Boutique Artisan Market!

At Blue Buddha Boutique, we consider ourselves lucky to be part of an extremely talented, vibrant and engaged community of artists. Now we’re excited to be able to open some space on our store shelves to members of that incredible group! B3 is now accepting applications for artists off all stripes – and not just jewelry; as long as it is handmade – to sell their goods at B3’s Pop-Up Shop in Chicago.

Blue Buddha is located on Granville Avenue, just steps from the Red Line train station, in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. Our retail shop has huge windows visible to more than 1,000 passersby each day. We are open limited hours until we complete construction and are expected to increase our hours in the fall. Our aim is to be THE place to buy handmade goods on Chicago’s Far North Side! We’re looking for everything from candles to stationery to hair accessories to cat toys and have a strong preference for Chicago-area artisans.

Interested? Read on for more details, and then get your application in ASAP!

  • First and foremost, all items must be handmade!
  • The artist must be willing to ship or hand-deliver items to Blue Buddha Boutique in Chicago.
  • Items will be sold on consignment.
  • The artist may provide props or displays for products and can set up their own display in the shop (but this is not a requirement).
  • Blue Buddha Boutique will price work for sale independent of the artist, and will pay the artist the wholesale amount indicated on the inventory sheet, regardless of the price paid by customer. (Artists should base their retail price at double the wholesale price, with the exception of works of a high material cost, in which case the artist price may be as much as 70% of the suggested retail price).
  • Blue Buddha Boutique may offer discounts or sales without affecting the money due to the artist. Submit your application today.

If we are interested, we’ll contact you with a copy of our inventory sheet and artist agreement.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a piece featuring Half Persian. The submissions were so fun and creative!

If you share this survey, we recommend copying the link to this blog post and pasting that in any emails, blog posts, or social media pages. (We’ve noticed some weirdness in the past with sharing the link directly. It sometimes likes to bump people out of voting who haven’t already. Thanks!)
