Extra Giveaway This Weekend! Sponsored By A Generous Customer

Enter For Your Chance To Win A Sterling Silver Pendant!

UPDATE: Congratulations to Amy R. of Illinois for winning! Enjoy your pendant, Amy!

As most of you know, I started doing regular giveaways in mid-May to provide a bit of cheer to those affected by the health crisis, particularly those facing financial hardships.

After the giveaway was announced, I was contacted by a customer, Edna, who generously offered to sponsor a giveaway!

So, this month, I’m doing THREE giveaways instead of the usual two. Woo-hoo! This giveaway is for one of the pendants shown below – winner’s choice. You can also select from a variety of chain lengths (between 16″ and 24″). Must ship to an address within the US. Enter by end of day Sunday, July 5, 2020.

As before, this contest is done on the honor system, similar to a “pay what you can” entrance fee. I’m not going to be “policing” your entries or asking for proof of hardship or anything. So just use your best judgement. If you know that you are financially secure, and will be for weeks/months to come, please make space for those who are not as fortunate. I do, however, encourage you to enter on behalf of someone else you know who is on the front lines, and/or facing financial hardship and would be delighted to receive finished jewelry.

There may be some of you who would like to enter, but are unsure if you qualify because even though you’re struggling with money, you can think of plenty of people who are worse off. If you’re having those thoughts, I invite you to enter! (There’s ALWAYS someone, somewhere amongst the 7.5 billion humans on this planet, who is going to “have it harder.” I understand where you are coming from; I often have to fight against my tendency to justify not deserving something or asking for help!)

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or leave a comment below.

Thank you for your support, patience and kindness during these surreal times.

EnterToWin-purpleGood luck!

Rules & fine print:

This giveaway is hosted by Rebeca Mojica Jewelry and Blue Buddha Boutique.
1 – You must be 18 or older to enter.

2 – Orders must be shipped within the US (If you’re in another country, you can still enter if you have a US address the item can be shipped to, or if you’re willing to pay for 100% of all associated shipping/customs/duties costs to get the care package to your country.) Please note that shipping has been greatly delayed due to COVID-19, so please allow additional time for your package to arrive after it is sent.

3 – Be sure to double-check your email address, as that is the method by which I’ll contact the winner! (And then remember to check that email. The notification will come from [email protected].)

4 – Winners will be randomly selected on Monday, July 6 and notified by email. If winner does not respond within 72 hours, winner forfeits the prize and another winner will be selected and contacted.

5 – The Blue Buddha Boutique blog will be updated with the winner (first name, last initial, city/state)

6 – Your emails and phone numbers are only being collected for the purpose of this contest. You are not being signed up for any email list and your contact information will be deleted when the contest is over. However, I encourage you to sign up for my newsletters if you’d like! Head over to BlueBuddhaBoutique.com and click on the Newsletter icon in the upper left. Or simply click this link:

7 – No purchase necessary to win. Buying stuff in my shops is greatly appreciated, but it will not give you extra chances to win. This contest is subject to end at any time.

A Favor To Ask Of B3’s Loyal Customers

Doing One Simple Thing Will Help More Of The Money You Spend In The B3 Shop Go To Me (Instead Of To A Multi-Billion-Dollar Corporation)

I have a favor to ask. I know a lot of you find my Etsy shop by typing “Blue Buddha Boutique” into a search engine. (Makes sense, that’s totally what I would do!) The top result is sometimes an ad, like the screenshot below.

My request to you is: If you see the word “Ad” next to a Blue Buddha/Rebeca Mojica Jewelry link, could you please NOT click the link?

Screen Shot 2020-05-29 at 11.29.48 AMIf you click on an ad link, any orders you place for the next 30 days are subject to an additional fee by Etsy. This is an Etsy program that I am forced to participate in.

Honestly, I don’t mind new customers discovering me this way. However, it’s been a bit heartbreaking to see orders come in from repeat customers, with Etsy taking this fee. On some large orders, the fee has been the equivalent of an hour or more of my wages. I’m pretty sure most of you would rather have me, than Etsy, have that money. (Because you guys are pretty awesome like that!)

To avoid this, all you have to do is just make sure you’re not reaching my shop by clicking on an ad in a search engine or even on Facebook and other social media. Instead, you can go to Etsy.com and then do a search for my shop once you’re on the Etsy site. Or, search for “Blue Buddha Boutique Etsy” and just make sure the link you click isn’t an ad. Or bookmark the B3 Etsy shop. There are plenty of options – please do what works best for you.

This is definitely motivation for me to re-open BlueBuddhaBoutique.com for shopping so I won’t be subject to Etsy’s rules. So I do plan to do this…but it’s a fairly large undertaking and right now I don’t have the bandwidth (nor $) to start. In the meantime, I’ll make the best of Etsy. I just wanted to make sure that you guys knew that the best way to support my business and other businesses on Etsy is to NOT click those advertising links.

Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate it.

Giveaways From Blue Buddha Boutique & Rebeca Mojica Jewelry

Enter For Your Chance To Win Chainmaille Jewelry or Supplies

giveaways-covid-May2020-blog

pandemic-mask-croppedI’m so thankful that so many of you have continued to support Blue Buddha Boutique though the twists and turns of the past 17 years.

This community has given me so much (too much to try and squeeze into one blog post!), and I want to do a little to give back. I especially want to help those who have lost income during these times and have cut back on spending. Or, those who may not have lost income but who were already living paycheck to paycheck before the pandemic.

I know that chainmaille is not the same priority as food, medicine and shelter. At the same time, chainmaille can be an amazing bright spot in someone’s day. Perhaps you feel soothed and energized by weaving maille. Or maybe you smile and feel your spirits lift when you catch a glimpse of the colorful pendant you’re wearing. Chainmaille is beauty, and there is something powerful about having beauty in your life. I may not be able to put food on your table, but I certainly can help bring beauty into your life.

Starting Friday, May 15, I’m planning on doing 2 giveaways each month. Some giveaways will be for Blue Buddha Boutique, and others for Rebeca Mojica jewelry. You can specify on the entry form which shop you’d like to receive a prize from. Winners will be able to choose from at least two prize options, including grab bags and gift certificates.

Right now, there’s no end date to this contest. I’m going to keep doing this as long as I can financially, and as long as it seems such a contest is helpful in the world. I may occasionally require participants to fill out new entry forms, especially if the structure of the contest is changed.

This contest is done on the honor system, similar to a “pay what you can” entrance fee. I’m not going to be “policing” your entries or asking for proof of hardship or anything. So just use your best judgement. If you know that you are financially secure, and will be for weeks/months to come, please make space for those who are not as fortunate. I do, however, encourage you to enter on behalf of someone else you know who would be delighted to receive supplies or finished jewelry.

3 – Be sure to double-check your email address, as that is the method by which I’ll contact the winner! (And then remember to check that email. The notification will come from [email protected].)

4 – Winners will be randomly selected (approximately 2 winners per month) and notified by their preferred contact method (phone or email). If winner does not respond within 72 hours, winner forfeits the prize and another winner will be selected and contacted.

Dozens Of Handmade Jewelry Items Now In The B3 Etsy Shop

sample-sale-2020-buyonEtsyWe made so many samples back in Chicago, I still have a ton of items left, so it’s time for a new sample sale! 😀 These are all precious metal pieces (plus a few bronze ones) offered at suuuper low prices. Most pieces are in amazing shape and many were never worn by a person, just displayed on jewelry forms! (For hygienic reasons, none of the earrings have ever been worn.)

Check out the sample sale section in the B3 Etsy shop for dozens of bracelets, a few necklaces and earrings in sterling silver, niobium and gold-fill.

These pieces are sold as-is, so if you’re gift shopping, be sure to let me know so I can do a thorough examination of your piece. (And I can upgrade any item to include a cleaning/gift box for $2.50.)

A Decade of CHAINED

Disclosure: Some of the links to products below are affiliate links, meaning, at no cost to you, I may earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. It helps me create content like this for you, and I thank you for your support.

Thank You To Everyone Who Purchased (Or Borrowed From The Library) My Book

chained-signed-by-rebeca-mojica-horz

It’s hard to believe that my book CHAINED: Create Gorgeous Chain Mail Jewelry One Ring At A Time was published 10 years ago already! The book has been out of print since last year, and yesterday, I finally signed my last remaining copy of the book and shipped it off to its new owner.

You can still purchase CHAINED on amazon as a Kindle edition. There are also plenty of used paperback copies available. (There are also some new copies available, though the markup prices can be eyebrow raising!)

It’s been quite a journey and I’m so thankful to each and every person who purchased a copy of my book or borrowed it from their local library. I hope you enjoyed making your projects. I’ll likely create standalone PDFs of a few of the projects at some point, but right now I’m focusing on creating tutorials for new designs. I hope you’ll continue along for the ride!

If you’d like to talk a walk down memory lane, check out this blog post from 2013 on the 3-year anniversary of CHAINED.

Thanks again! I’m so grateful for your support.
