We Have A Winner!

Plus, Check Out These Puzzle Companies & Your Favorite Colors

puzzle-collageThank you to everyone who entered the puzzle giveaway. Congrats to Larisa B of California for winning the puzzle; I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I had a great time reading everyone’s survey comments. First off, thank you so much for all the well wishes. I am very touched by your thoughtfulness and kindness. My mom and I are doing well, staying safe and keeping our spirits up.

I loved hearing about all the cat “helpers” you have, and the kids/parents/in-laws in your life who are always eager to snag your chainmaille as soon as you’re finished weaving it. Thanks for sharing your stories!

I wanted to give a few shout-outs to these companies and apps, all of which were mentioned by multiple people:

  • Magic Puzzle Company

It looks like I’ll have plenty to keep me occupied until the world opens up again. Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions!

So … You Like Puzzles & The Color Blue

One of the survey questions asked how much you liked puzzles. I figured the responses would be weighted toward yes, since, you know, it’s a puzzle giveaway after all. And, yep, that checks out:

Finally, I asked what your favorite color were. Based on kit purchases, I had an inkling about the results, but didn’t expect SUCH a heavy weighting toward one color in particular. In this word cloud, you can see the colors mentioned; the larger the font size, the more times it was mentioned.

Favorite ColorsI guess I’m glad our shop name is the Blue Buddha Boutique and not Brown Buddha Boutique? 😂

Thanks again for your responses. I look forward to doing another giveaway soon!

Virtual Class: Color In Chainmaille

Join Me For This Special Seminar As Part of The Chain Link Up Convention

UPDATE April 2021: This course has been recorded and is available to purchase as a webinar

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaching a virtual seminar at the Chain Link Up Conference in 2021.

I’d hoped to attend in person, but alas, this pesky pandemic. Note: The in-person conference is still on for those who wish to attend.

Confession: I’m still working on figuring out the best way to translate my very hands-on teaching style to virtual, but in the meantime, I thought this would be a great opportunity to offer a seminar that has been requested a few times from folks who tell me, “Oh, I wish I had your sense of color! Read the full description below and register by Saturday January 2, 2021 6 pm ET if you are interested!

Presenting….

color-in-chainmaille-headerCOLOR IN CHAINMAILLE (VIRTUAL)
Date: Saturday Feb 27th from 5-6pm EST
Description:
A single chainmaille design can convey different emotions depending on the colors used; the perfect color combination can make even a simple design breathtakingly beautiful. This seminar begins with a brief overview of the different types of colorful metals and materials used in chainmaille. From there, we’ll focus on anodized aluminum palettes and you’ll learn Rebeca’s process for creating vivid color combinations and ombres.

Attendees will receive a PDF containing resources, images and color palettes to inspire, along with “coloring” pages for a few basic designs if you’d like to use color pencils to get a sense of how changing the position of colors in a weave affects the overall look. Feel free to bring your own chainmaille pieces if you have questions about incorporating color or would like feedback.

Win this 1000-pc puzzle! Note: jump ring not included. I didn’t even notice the jump ring when I took the photo … welcome to my life lol.

A few months ago, a good friend of mine received a colorful puzzle for her birthday. After completing it, she thought I would enjoy it immensely, and she was  correct! I’ve always loved puzzles and have completed several during this year of isolation and lockdown. This particular puzzle was soothing for me to do and it felt nice to switch up my routine: Usually, I assemble puzzles by working on small, independent patches, but this time I pretty much started in the center, worked out for a few circles, then tackled one color to completion, and then worked my way around.

Having completed it, I’d love to continue to “pay it forward” by re-gifting the re-gift! I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of chainmaillers also enjoy puzzles. If that’s you, and think you’d enjoy this, please fill out the form and I’ll randomly select one person to receive this puzzle. One caveat – once you’re done, please pass the puzzle on to someone else, and ask that they too pass it on when they are finished, and so on. Let’s give this thing a long life across many homes!

Note that if you are sensitive to cat hair, you probably don’t want to enter. My friend has cats and one of her cat’s hairs definitely made its way in the box. I’m sure my cat added her own contribution. 😬

I’ll be doing the giveaway to coincide with Three Kings Day, which is basically my Christmas! For those of you not familiar with this holiday, it’s on January 6. As a kid, I put a shoebox filled with straw—or shredded yellow construction paper, because, let’s face it, there’s not much straw in the barrios of Chicago—under my bed. During the night, the Three Wise Men (Kings) stopped by all the homes of the Latinx kids. While their camels munched on the straw, the kings deposited presents for us. It felt magical to receive gifts a couple weeks after most of the kids in my school had already practically forgotten about the holidays.

As an adult, I still celebrate and enjoy Three Kings Day with my mom and sweetie. This season’s celebration will obviously be a bit different, given the pandemic, but I’m still looking forward to it and am happy to be able to share a bit of its magic with the puzzle winner.

Must ship to an address within the US. Enter by end of day Tuesday, January 5, 2020.

Viperscale 2.0 Kits Coming Soon

Early Bird Bundles Available for Pre-Ordering Now

Viperscale-pre-order
By early October, you’ll be able to purchase Viperscale 2.0 kits in the B3 Etsy shop, woo-hoo! As usual, I’m offering special Early Bird Bundles. However, I’m doing it a bit differently, as the Bundles always sell out so quickly, leaving many customers disappointed. (It seems I consistently underestimate the number of folks who want to purchase multiple kits at once! Y’all are close to my heart!)
Here’s how it works:
From now through Labor Day (September 7) you can pre-order your early-bird bundle via Etsy. Because the bundles are pre-order, they won’t sell out!
As a special bonus, you can also customize the accent color in any or all of your kits. (The customization option will not be available when the regular kits are released). Choose from more than 30 color options!
After you pre-order, hang tight for a few weeks and then enjoy the colorful bounty when your package arrives!
Please note that if you’re just looking for 1 or 2 kits, the Ă  la carte version of Viperscale 2.0 will be released near the beginning of October. Not all colorways will be released at once, so if you’re really excited about one colorway in particular, feel free to drop me a note at [email protected] and I’ll aim to release the most popular kits first.

The Quantum Rose is one of my signature pieces and has always been a customer favorite. This giveaway is for a medium size sterling silver pendant. The winner can select from a variety of chain lengths (between 16″ and 24″).

Quantum Rose Sterling Silver pendant

This is a stainless steel version of the same pendant so you can get a better idea of the size.

As before, this contest is done on the honor system, similar to a “pay what you can” entrance fee. I’m not going to be “policing” your entries or asking for proof of hardship or anything. So just use your best judgement. If you know that you are financially secure, and will be for weeks/months to come, please make space for those who are not as fortunate. I do, however, encourage you to enter on behalf of someone else you know who is on the front lines, and/or facing financial hardship and would be delighted to receive finished jewelry.

There may be some of you who would like to enter, but are unsure if you qualify because even though you’re struggling with money, you can think of plenty of people who are worse off. If you’re having those thoughts, I invite you to enter! (There’s ALWAYS someone, somewhere amongst the 7.5 billion humans on this planet, who is going to “have it harder.” I understand where you are coming from; I often have to fight against my tendency to justify not deserving something or asking for help!)

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or leave a comment below.

Thank you for your support, patience and kindness during these surreal times.
