Artisan Market Monday: Madame Platypus

Chicago native Rachel Katzman is the owner and designer of “MadamePlatypus: Art, Jewelry and Crochet to Inspire and Amuse.”  Her work has been defined as cheeky, feminist, spiritual and silly.  She creates each resin pendant individually combining vintage/pin-up images with ironic, sassy phrasing. Her pen and ink illustrations feature women, nature, energy and body/sex positive messages – they are available in both card and print form.

At the Blue Buddha Artisan Market, we carry a wide selection of both her prints + cards and a collection of her pendant jewelry.  Come in to check out her lovely and inspiring creations!

Hi Blue Buddha fans! It’s me, April!

If you’ve noticed a lot more cute emojis and the use of the word “rad” in comments on our social media sites lately, it’s because I’ve started taking care of some of Blue Buddha’s various outlets.  Since I see so many of your awesome creations, I thought I should give myself an introduction.April 01

Hi!  I’m April, the Social Media Coordinator here at B3.  Over the past two years, I’ve helped with a lot of various positions here, from quality controlling and putting together your orders, to assisting at different craft shows (DIY! One of a Kind!) and in our retail store.  I’ve even designed a kit!  My favorite things include crafting in many mediums (sewing, drawing, book making, and of course jewelry making and chainmaille), hanging out with my cat Sam, and all things purple.  (You probably guessed that already from my hair.  😉  )

Now I’m helping with our social media accounts, including Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and one of my new favorite things is seeing all of the lovely things you make!  But sometimes it can be hard to find things in the vast ocean of the internet, so I have a favor to ask of you.  Could you tag all your chainmaille shinies so I can see them?  I regularly check #chainmaille and #bluebuddhaboutique where I can, but also tags like #chainmaillelove and #buddhamaille are fun to use too!

You can also post pictures to our Facebook and tag us in your Google+ photos as well.

I look forward to seeing all your gorgeous creations!

best wishes,
~April
