Musik to Maille By
For the past three years, we have been toiling away on a secret, underground musical project. When the world didn't end in the apocalyptic fury we were expecting in 2012, we knew it was a sign. It was time to share this metal with the world.
It all began in 2010 when a customer survey we created yielded a surprising result: When asked what improvements they most wanted from Blue Buddha, people overwhelmingly cried "Give us heavy metal!", and they didn't mean jump rings.
While some B3 employees were more accustomed to folk ballads than heavy metal mayhem, they channeled the frustration they felt while quality-controlling off-color rings and howled melodies of raw metal power at our first band audition. While we were generally impressed by the rage and decibels demonstrated by our team (especially some of the more timid members), a fearsome four stood out.
Our Heavy Metals department was born.
About the Band
Our music is best experienced live, where you can witness firsthand the Duke's amazing inverted position, Links' so-fast-they-are-a-blur fingers, LeViolet's chest-pounding bass drumming and Stry's… hair. In fact, for months we battled endlessly over whether or not to even record the impressive 510 songs we had written. Finally, after an epic 39-hour "rings, paper, pliers" battle, Links' entrepreneurial approach to darkness won out and our first album, "Take It or Weave It", was recorded and released.
Blau Büddha Bøtik regularly performs eardrum-shattering basement shows at 1127 W. Granville. Look for them also at this year's Bead&FolkMetal show as well as the DIY Metalcore Show. If you can't make it to a show, check out their discography below and try screaming out some of the lyrics while you tumble your stainless steel jump rings in a metal fan. It's kind of like that.

Meet Your Makers
The Black Duke
Hailing from deep within the Carpathian Mountains, the Black Duke strives to lure more and more loyal subjects to his kingdom of metal. As the last remaining heir of an aristocratic family, he turned to music at an early age to drown out the lamentations of his pitiful subjects. He developed his unconventional bass playing technique, desmodus rotundus, while hanging upside down to decipher his family crest.
Links
A vagrant Renaissance Fair traveler, Links is from everywhere and nowhere at all. A child prodigy, she had mastered all modern instruments by the age of 5 and set her sights on something darker -- Dark Age-ier, that is. Her lightning-fast fingers have left crowds in awe all around the world and her love of Early Music and Metal inspired her to create her own genre of music which she called "Metalevil".
LeViolet Fleur
Born in the Deep South, December LeViolet Fleur fought her way out of the backwater bayous to pursue her passion for drumming. With muscle built from years of alligator wrestling, she drumrolled her way to Chicago, where she found a place in Blau Buddha's unique musical style. Fleur continues exploring the world while blasting out her signature doublebass drumbeats.
Stry
Invoked by the cries of Blau Buddha, the sonic craftsman known only as Stry emerged from mysterious lands. Stry's knowledge of ancient skills such as working the bellows, forging the boom, and fashioning the thunder have shaped Blau Buddha's timeless musical style. His side projects include Lime Kami, Turquoise Thoth, and Green Ganesh.
